Mock and Roll with Lord Whitney and Jack Hudson

mr-header

We love creative duo Lord Whitney, they make us happy to live in Leeds knowing that they are up to their playful mischief. If you don’t already know who they are then watch out as they’ve just been featured as 1 of 7 talents to watch out for  in the uber cool Hunger Magazine,  (created by the stellar Rankin – yes the iconic contemporary fashion photographer and co-founder of  Dazed and Confused). They say loads of lovely stuff about Leeds in this international tome, so do go buy one from Colours May Vary, whilst stocks last!

So when we happened across this imaginative Mock n Roll IndieGoGo campaign we knew we wanted to help realise their ambitions towards a Club Tropicanic Exhibition at Leeds Gallery. We all benefit don’t we?

Watch the video, it’s fun, and should convince you that we need more colour in our lives! Then click HERE to get involved. We’ve nabbed ourselves a limited edition print, which we wont be sharing!

If you need to read more about the project…

Illustrator Jack Hudson teams up with 3D image-making duo Lord Whitney to produce a body of work inspired by the most vibrant, iconic, and downright weird record covers in history.

Over the last few weeks we have lovingly created an entire back catalogue of LP cover designs for a series of fictitious musical artists to be featured in an exhibition at Leeds Gallery, Munro House starting with a private view on 27th April 2013.

We would love you to be a part of it by helping towards the costs of putting on the exhibition – materials, printing, framing, hire costs, refreshments etc. You’re contribution will not only help make this happen, we also have some amazing perks for you! If we’re fortunate enough to go over our goal, any extra will go towards making the private view extra special, may allow us to take the exhibition to London and also go towards us creating more exciting work for you – so far this is a self-initiated project where none of the artists are getting paid to do the work. We feel strongly about producing high quality artwork to encourage and excite the Leeds/Northern art scene and the more you can support it, the more we can produce for you!

This feast for the senses will be equally delicious to eyes and ears, with established musical artists from bands such as Pulled Apart by Horses, Dept. M, Lone Wolf, These Monsters and Sky Larkin penning original songs inspired by these outré artworks. It will launch you into a sonic time warp where only the best bits from an era rich in music and visuals are permitted. Doves will cry. Hair will spontaneously perm.

Expect the private view to bring a touch of Club Tropicana to Leeds, complete with colour, music, and exotic fruit-based beverages. Just remember to remove your rose tinted aviators, and you may be able to spot some of the ‘real’ superstars themselves…

Private View: Saturday 27th April from 6pm
Exhibition Dates : 28th April – 7th May
Gallery Opening Hours : Monday – Saturday 10am – 6pm

NB Original full size Artworks will also be available to buy exclusively at the exhibition

All your help is appreciated, if you can’t contribute, the power of spreading the word and coming along to the exhibition is not to be underestimated.
