Toy Hacking Workshop

Something that’s popped up on my radar is a Toy Hacking workshop aimed at families running as part of the InXclusion arts programme this coming Sunday.

The headline that caught my eye was:

“Ever watched Toy Story and thought the mutant toys put together by the psychotic boy next door were actually sort of cool?”

Well I don’t know about you but I found those toys kind of scary … although I’ve asked around and other people did think they were cool so looks like they’re right, hacking together toys is kind of cool for some folks.

What I think is really cool is seeing a family friendly activity embedded in an arts festival, although InXclusion is calling itself a “live art occupation”, I’m not really sure what this means but you can find out more about the event on their website (see below).

The Details
The Toy Hacking workshop works mainly with textiles and plastics. It is suitable for ages 4+, there is no booking necessary and it’s free but if your want to take your creation home they ask for a small donation. It’s a drop in session on Sunday 26th February between 12noon and 4pm at East Street Arts, Patrick Studios, St Marys Lane, Leeds, LS9 7EH.

The event is being run with the local branch of homeless charity Emmaus who will be preparing a hot meal at Sunday lunch for all visitors.

You can following the inXclusion event on twitter here @inxclusion and find out more about the event on their website www.inxclusion.com
