Teapots and Twirls – 26th May

Teapots_and_TwirlsGuest blogger Tessa Smith, @tessasmith, invites us to a lovely tea dance to celebrate Saturdays.

Last year, Jules Birkby (@NiceCupOTea) won a competition set by Yorkshire Tea allowing her the use of ‘Little Urn’ – their travelling tea van – to provide Yorkshire Tea for friends and guests. Meanwhile, as a lover of Jazz, cake, and dancing, I had been considering the possibility of putting on a dance to combine those things.

Little-Urn-Yorkshire-TeaThe first time I set foot in Interplay, I knew it was the space I’d been looking for. The floor is perfect for Lindy Hopping, and the staff there were wonderfully friendly. And it’s in my beloved Armley. I later found out it used to be the venue of the Marvellous Tea Dance Company’s events! Great minds, and all that..!

So, knowing Jules from Lindy Fridays , we put our heads together and started scheming. It’s been surprisingly smooth sailing!

We set a date with ease: Saturday 26th May.
A time was decided upon: 1 – 5pm.
A band were booked: The fabulous Leeds City Stompers.

A troupe of cake-bakers have been assembled, fabulous raffle prizes donated, and everything looks set for a wonderful afternoon!

Money raised from the event will be donated to The Prince of Wales Hospice, in Pontefract, who do invaluable work for people with terminal illness in Yorkshire.

Tickets are £6 and are available at the Teapots and Twirls website.

Any other information, please visit the ‘Teapots and Twirls’ Facebook group, and we hope very much to see you for a spot of tea and a slice or two of cake on Saturday 26th May, at Interplay on Armley Ridge Road, Leeds LS12 3LE.
