Live Music Exchange, Leeds: Interesting Times for Local Live Music

Venue Bar Meeting Room, Leeds College of Music, Leeds Friday 4th – Saturday 5th May 2012

A conference with a difference, the Live Music Exchange gathers together leading academics with people working directly (and indirectly) with live music, to exchange ideas about how to encourage and assist a vibrant and sustainable live music ecology.

Please see here for the conference programme.

The focus of the event is the problems of local live music promotion in the current global economic crisis. The conference runs in conjunction with the Live At Leeds festival and The Unconference, therefore there is a particular focus on Leeds and surrounding areas.

The event is a space with which to broaden the debate around live music and bring various groups together, and features speakers and delegates from a wide range of backgrounds, including promoters, musicians, academics, and local music historians. The event will use a number of different formats, including keynote speeches, ‘in conversations with …’, and panel discussions, as well as more ‘traditional’ academic papers.

Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment.

The cost of the conference will be £30 per delegate (£15 for students/unwaged). If you wish to attend individual conference sessions, the cost per session will be £5 (£3 students/unwaged). Please get in contact with Emma Webster if you wish to attend.
