In conversation with Joanna Quinn

We love the distinctive hand-drawn style of animator Joanna Quinn here at The Culture Vulture and regular readers may remember that we featured her exhibition at the National Media Museum when it opened last year. Her sharp, witty observation of human character, demonstrated in films like ‘Girl’s Night Out’ (1986), ‘Britannia’ (1993) and ‘Dreams and Desires’ (2006) has won her many other admirers too and the odd international awards to boot!

So we just had to tell you about an amazing opportunity to spend an evening in the company of Joanna herself on 28th January from 7 – 8.30pm! During the evening Joanna will be interviewed about her animation interests and influences while also offering a personal insight into her career and many films. But that’s not all as following the discussion there will be an opportunity to join Joanna on a guided tour of her exhibition. The exhibition is an ideal opportiunity to catch up with favourites from Joanna, including her trademark character the feisty Welsh housewife Beryl,  and additionally includes original artworks by artists who have inspired Joanna such as Gillray, Toulouse-Lautrec and Degas. Surely an opportunity not to be missed! Check out the website to find out more

Tickets cost £5.00 (£3 concessions) but for all of you who follow us on Twitter keep an eye out as there will be a pair of tickets up for grabs at some point on 25th January!
