Leeds-based promoter Good Folk has had a busy week. With shows Monday to Wednesday already, this week’s seen them bring the likes of Charlie Parr and The Pattern Theory back to Leeds, as well as introducing rising stars from Brooklyn Forest Fire and old-tyme Virginia three-piece and friends of the late Jack Rose The Black Twig Pickers to our fair city. And, this Sunday 19th, they cap a busy week in style with a show they say has realised a “personal dream” – New York’s folk music legend, Diane Cluck, is playing at one of Leeds most cherished venues, The Brudenell Social Club.
Diane Cluck has been a key figure in the development of New York’s Antifolk scene that has produced artists such as Lach and Jeffrey Lewis, and influenced countless many more. Both Laura Marling and Johnny Flynn cite her as a major influence. She is touring with her drummer Anders Griffen, an often unrecognized yet highly noted musician who has performed with everybody from Regina Spektor to Kimya Dawson.
As if that wasn’t enough, Shipley’s princess Blue Roses provides very special guest support on the night. Signed to XL Recordings, she has had a whirlwind of a past twelve months that has seen numerous festival appearances, high-profile live shows as well as a critically acclaimed self-titled debut album.
We’re offering a pair of tickets for this Sunday’s show… All you need to do is tweet ‘Win me some tickets to see Diane Cluck at the Brudenell 19/09 please @culturevultures‘ to be entered into the hat. The deadline is the morning of the 19th!
