Eureka! The National Children’s Museum is preparing for an alien invasion this Easter. Throughout the Easter holidays, the museum in Halifax, West Yorkshire will be home to all manner of extraterrestrial beings as well as a well known,
time travelling doctor. What’s more your little extra terrestrials will get in absolutely free if they come in costume between 4th and 19th April as long as they are accompanied by full paying human adult! Check out the Eureka! website for more information.
The aliens are also be landing at The National Media Museum in Bradford this Easter as just part of their extensive programme of Easter events for the whole family. Or to be more precise that will be Monsters vs Aliens: An IMAX 3D experience and you will have the opportunity to watch the brand new animated feature from DreamWorks in glorious 3D on the biggest screen in Yorkshire! GRAB A BASKET AND JOIN THE HUNT THIS EASTER
If you fancy taking the chicklets on an Easter egg hunt this holiday you’ll really be spoilt for choice across the region. Highlights include a special Bronte egg hunt at the Bronte Parsonage Museum throughout the holidays (free on admission). For an egg hunt with a difference, why not head over to Leeds City Museum and see if you can find all the bird eggs hidden in the museum displays? Or get down to Temple Newsam between 7th and 19th April and take part in their Easter egg hunt competition with the chance to win an ‘eggcellent’ prize and even get a look at some new born chicks.
I COULD WRITE A SONNET ABOUT YOUR EASTER BONNET…
Who doesn’t need a fabulous bonnet to parade around in this Easter? There are certainly plenty of opportunities to get crafty this holiday so get making easter bonnets at The National Media Museum anytime between Friday 10th and Monday 13th April; at Leeds City Museum on 7th to 9th April and 14 to 16th April between 11am and 3.30pm; or at Temple Newsam on the 13th and 19th April at 3pm.
There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in general crafty sessions with Art on the Mat at Leeds Art Gallery between 6th and 19th April, puppet making at Kirkstall Abbey on 8th April (10am to 1pm) and general easter craft fun at Abbey House Museum on 7th April (1 to 3pm) and 10th April (10 to 12 noon).
UNABLE TO ESCAPE THE COOP? APRIL SHOWERS CAUSING MAYHEM?
As we can’t always rely on the British weather to smile on us during the holidays we thought we had better give you some fun things to entertain the chicklets in case of April Showers.
After all your fun parading your bonnet perhaps you are worried about your boiled eggs feeling underdressed this Easter? Then why not make them their very own felty jacket to keep them feeling chirpy!! This Owl Egg Cosy from Lucycrafts is just the ticket!
