We were recently invited along to an evening of fun and rum, along with lots of other lovely local bloggers, to check out a little bit of Cuban culture courtesy of Havana Cultura (and the lovely Krista at NEON!). We got to drink some lovely cocktails, and the Culture Vulture contributors even came out quite lucky in the winning goodies department.

One of the aforementioned goodies was a copy of some preview tracks from a CD that marks the culmination of a year long project which saw Gilles Peterson travel to Cuba to find all the very best musical talent in Havana. The resulting two disc album is the biggest collection of contemporary Cuban musicians in a single musical initiative since the Buena Vista Social Club don’t you know, and includes 28 tracks from both established artists to undiscovered local, street and urban talent! Keep an eye out for a forthcoming review of the CD here at Culture Vulture.

So we have one signed copy of the ‘Gilles Peterson presents Havana Cultura – New Cuban Sound’ double disc to give away. What’s more Havana Cultura are running a fabulous Twitter Treasure Hunt to win two VIP tickets to Gilles Peterson’s exclusive Havana Cultura album launch party in Paris on 26th November (including travel and accomodation!). The treasure hunt is running for two weeks from 19th October, with a total of ten clues, and even though we are a bit slow off the mark we are assured it won’t be hard to catch up.
