  1. Great to hear about this selling show!

If you’d like to get a bit of background on collecting photography before you buy, though, why not come to our upcoming talk at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery?

‘Collecting Contemporary Photography’ given by Gill Howard of Pavilion will be on Tues 10 Nov 2009 from 6pm at the Gallery.

We’re located in the Parkinson Building, University of Leeds, Woodhouse Lane, if you’ve never been before. Tea and coffee will start the evening off, and there will be plenty of time to ask questions and explore the gallery afterwards!

  2. My favourite photographer has to be Gregory Crewdson. Awesome lighting in some surreal situations. Every little detail in his images is a clue to unravelling the whole story and each one is a genuine masterpiece.

  3. An impossible demand, to have ‘a favourite’ (of anything). Can I squeeze in two – Sebastiao Salgado for his powerful, disturbing, political documentary b/w images; and Veronica Bailey – I caught my breath walking into Impressions, when it was in York, and seeing these intriguing patterns and subtle colours – the mix of beauty and cleverness, catching the details of such ordinary things (book edges).

  4. Yann Arthus-Bertrand. His Earth From above series are completely outstanding and leave you blown away by the imagery that he is able to capture.

  5. My Mum because she’s been cutting my Dad’s head off every family shot since 1970 – bless her!

  6. Favourite photographer has to be Robert Friel who was nominated for Wildlife Photographer of the year this year – check out the great penguin picture he took in South Georgia on google – he has an amazing eye for the unusual and interaction between humans and animals. A true great!
