Open day: Saturday 22nd May 12-4pm Lunch Provided
If you have often passed by the award winning Industrial Museum at Armley Mills, and thought to yourself, ‘gosh it’s so close to town, and the cinema/gym etc why don’t I pop in and have a look one day?’…then you are not alone! I must confess to having done this for many years myself, and with a heavy sense duty of honour as the self appointed Lady Mayoress of Armley I gave myself a boot up the proverbial and in I popped. It is a delightful space, full of nooks and crannies, engines, bobbins, spindles, and a mini 25 seater 1930’s cinema, nestling betwixt river and canal. Why it’s not beseiged everyday of the week by tourists I am at a loss to know, still that’s fine by me because it means I can claim it as my own best kept secret!
So can you imagine the horror, when I realised I would be sharing it! That it would soon become a space for artists, of the widest description, and with paid residencies…Yes you heard me, PAID residencies…Part of the Mill is being turned over to a new space and it’s called The Millspace.
So if that didn’t get your attention what will? Are you an artist? Fancy a really good nose around? A chance to find out more about the opportunities to make, dream, show, and connect? Get along to the open day on. Click here to download the proposal brief too.
