Northern Ballet Open Day

Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre finally open their OWN doors to the public Saturday 22nd January, in a long long awaited move to their purpose built new home down at St Peters Square (by The Wardrobe, BBC, West Yorkshire Playhouse)

Their new home offers many opportunities everyone to experience dance for themselves in a bustling creative space. It boasts seven dance studios, including a 230-seat studio theatre and is the largest dance rehearsal space outside of London, a health suite, wardrobe facilities, office space and meeting rooms, a public exhibition, a café and is also home to the Northern Ballet Academy and Phoenix Youth Academy.

• Company class A chance to see Northern Ballet dancers put through their paces in their daily class.
• Company rehearsal Go behind-the-scenes and see what a rehearsal for a Northern Ballet performance is really like.
• Contemporary and jazz demos Demonstrations of dance techniques by Northern Ballet Academy students.
• Creative Movement taster Basic ballet movements in a fun and creative class for children aged 4-6.
• Get moving! Try your hand at ballet, jazz and contemporary dance. For all ages and abilities.
• Mini movers For children aged 18months- 4 years and their parents/carers to get even the tiniest of tots bopping!
• Open to view Observe a range of Northern Ballet Academy and Phoenix Youth Academy classes and get a greater insight into what’s on offer.
• Open workshop A fun and creative movement session with Northern Ballet for anyone of any age or ability.
• Performance A selection of exciting performances from Northern Ballet, Northern Ballet Academy and Phoenix Youth Academy.
• Taster classes – Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, African Dance We believe there’s a dancer in everyone so now is your chance to try these different styles for yourself.
• Workshop for the over 55s A fun gentle movement session based on Romeo and Juliet. No dance experience necessary.
