Place and Memory Project

Morticia (@LadyLugosi) writes about the Place and Memory exhibition previewing this evening (11 Oct) 6pm at Holy Trinity Church …

In June I replied to an email from Arts and Minds Network – they were looking for Leeds based people to take part in the Place and Memory Project. I was shortlisted for interview and got accepted – cue the most intense, thought provoking, incredible 4 months – have learnt a new vocabulary, learnt new processes, and it’s all culminated and collated in the Place and Memory Exhibition at Holy Trinity Church Boar Lane from 10am til 3pm every day til October 19th 2013. Which is in turn part of the Love Arts Festival – full details of which can be found here  http://loveartsleeds.co.uk/

Place and Memory features work from 8 artists in total – all of us had to pick a part of Leeds and we  examined the hidden and overlooked corners of the city, and found beauty  in unexpected places by exploring graveyards, wastelands, woodlands, and a hospital’s echoing corridors. The resultant work is a mix of drawings, installations, photographs, video, poetry, sculpture, and sound.

There is a film which is being shown at White Cloth Gallery Aire Street 3pm Saturday 12th October.

Why not come on down and check it out for yourself and see if you share any memories in common with the artists?
