Rachel Goodyear – Blogger Preview at YSP
01.10.11 / 18.00–19.00
The autumn offering from Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) includes a new exhibition by Manchester-based Rachel Goodyear. Goodyear’s compelling cast of characters inhabits a strange and complex world of contradictions, existing somewhere between the macabre and mundane. Exploring themes of fear, desire, vulnerability and isolation, the artist invites the viewer into a dark place where human psychologies and animal behaviour collide and merge.
The exhibition, in YSP’s Bothy Gallery, features commissioned works alongside recent drawings, including a new series inspired by the physical and imagined landscape at YSP, resulting, for the first time in the artist’s career, in small-scale sculpture.
The Culture Vulture has teamed up with YSP once again to give bloggers a free preview of the exhibition, including an introduction by Rachel Goodyear, on Saturday 1 October, from 6-7pm.
You might like to combine the preview with dinner in the YSP Restaurant and a concert by Opera North in YSP’s Chapel at 9.15pm. Tickets for YSP and Opera North present Four Seasons: Autumn are going fast – book here
