If you fancy following in the footsteps of Ed Sheeran then hotfoot it to the Leeds auditions for the Youth Music Threate on Saturday..
The flame haired pop sensation was a YMT member so to emulate him just sign up for an audition slot between 9.30am and midday or 12.15pm and 2.45pm at Northern Ballet, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7PA.
The workshop/auditions for young performers aged 11- 21 are a two and a half hour session of dance/drama/singing workshops led by a professional director, choreographer and musical director.
This year’s audition team includes Elliot Davis and Steven Dexter, writer and director of 2012’s West Yorkshire Playhouse and West End production of Loserville the Musical, who are also casting for their professional show.
The company say it is definitely not the sort of scary audition you might have seen on TV talent shows – the team will lead a series of practical and fun activities to help you make the most of your time, and to show the team exactly what your skills are.
After auditions have been held across the whole of the country, YMT allocate the most successful into one of seven new productions across the UK. Around 250 of the most talented are selected – this can be quite complicated but everyone will hear before the end of March 2012.
Successful auditionees get the chance to work with some of the UK’s leading professional directors, composers and choreographers to stage full scale productions at some of the country’s most respected theatres and arts festivals. You’ll learn new skills, make new friends and take your first steps on a career in the performing arts.
