The West Yorkshire Playhouse will be rocking to the dance beat over the weekend as Dansopolis, an annual Yorkshire Dance event showcasing the best community and youth dance from across the region. On Friday 3rd the focus will be on the dazzling diversity offered by community dance, whilst on Saturday 4th the attention will turn to the youth of Yorkshire and give us a chance to see what they have to offer. Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets (£9/£7 concessions) can be purchased online here.
One group of young people appearing at Dansopolis are certainly doing Yorkshire proud this month. Not only have Momentum been ranked in the top ten Street dance groups in the UK for their age group (14-17) but they are also the only group from the north of England to make it through to the Street Dance Championships at the O2 Arena on 30th August. They will be competing alongside Flawless and Diversity, who should be well be known to those who watch Britain’s Got Talent! And if that wasn’t enough, they will also be appearing in the first British Streetdance movie, alongside said dancers, after impressing a panel of judges including the choreographer to the late, great Michael Jackson
