Remember that Bridal shop tucked away by Birds Yard in Leeds? Still not sure where Birds Yard on Kirkgate is? What about The Duck and Drake? Ah now you know where I’m talking about. Anyway being a nosy bird I’ve been walking past it on my way to my office at Munro House wondering what the hive of activity is all about. Then quite by coincidence bumped into Ellen (pictued above with Jay Cover of Nous Vous) recently who told me all about the plans for their temporary gallery XO. So I asked her to bob a line about the opening exhibition and plans for the space. It opens tonight, 20th February at 7pm. Do go along and support the gallery.
Our first exhibition opens on the 20th Feb at 6pm, entitled An Arrangement in White. It is a large group show, made up of around 28 artists, from different stages in their careers. We have curated the exhibition collectively, selecting artists individually and then bringing them all together tied only with the aesthetic choice that the works are either white or relate to the colour white.
Featuring:
Jeffrey Baij / Simon Boase / John Bohl / Cath Campbell / Toby Christian / Kitty Clark / Jay Cover / Pete Ellis / Andreas Ervik / Alex Farrar / Jack Fisher / Graham Gussin / Verity Hatfield / James Hines / Penny Klepuszewska / Rory Macbeth / Harry Meadley / Andreas Meinich / Briony Mullan / Richard Paul / Tom Railton / Alexis Rago / Simon Ringe / Tai Shani / David Steans / Rachel Westerman /
We are a team of 6, made up of artists and curators and are aiming to curate several exhibitions within the space, either collectively or initiated individually and then realised with help from the rest of the group. We are hoping this will give us all a chance to curate shows individually but on a larger scale than we could ever achieve alone.
