Land Art with Ben Tufnell at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

We’ve teamed up with Yorkshire Sculpture Park this month to give away two pairs of tickets to upcoming event Land Art with Ben Tufnell on 25 February at 7.30pm. The Director of Exhibitions at London’s Haunch of Venison Gallery and author of Land Art, published by Tate, will discuss the work of David Nash, who’s latest exhibition at YSP draws to a close on Sunday 27 February. The Land Art movement emerged in the USA in the 1960s. Nash is one of the world’s most renowned land artists and like others uses natural materials and the landscape around him to create his work. Other well known names include Andy Goldsworthy who exhibited at YSP in 2007 and the late Dennis Oppenheim, whose Trees from Alternative Components are on permanent display at the Park.

  1. The wonderful “Hanging Trees” is on permanent display at YSP. We admire every time we walk past on one of our favourite walks.

  3. It’s Hanging Trees and, a fantastic piece of work and I’d love to come to the Ben Tufnell event as I’m trying to organise some land art workshops for teenagers at New Ferry Butterfly Park, it’d be a fantastic insight into the world of land art.

  5. It’ll be the hanging trees, I think.
    My little girl, Mabel, is four (nearly five) now, and I some of my most loved memories of taking her to the Sculpture Park with friends, and pramming it about in the fields, eyeball to eyeball with the sheep, and discovering the sculptures amongst it all. A wonderful place.

    1. This answer is Hanging Trees. Yorkshire Sculpture Park always reminds me of the raw beauty of places like Cornwall. It’s like the sculptures have grown out of the land. As if they should never be anywhere else. Amazing place.
