Yesterday The Hepworth Wakefield were delighted to announce that Frances Quinn, winner of The Great British Bake Off 2013 (BBC2’s most-watched programme in a decade), will be helping the gallery to celebrate the arrival of its millionth visitor this week.
Taking millionaire’s shortbread as the basis of her bespoke special bake, Frances will be creating a unique taste sensation inspired by The Hepworth Wakefield’s million milestone and the art of Barbara Hepworth, the Wakefield-born artist whose artistic legacy is celebrated by the gallery.
Just two and a half years since it opened to the public, Yorkshire’s award-winning gallery, designed by David Chipperfield Architects is looking forward to welcoming its millionth visitor.
The gallery recently announced the week of celebrations and surprise visitor giveaways to mark the occasion and thank visitors for their continued support. Every visitor to the gallery until this Sunday (8th December) has the chance to be a winner with over 50 surprise giveaways to be given out. These include limited edition prints, posters and goody bags to free gallery membership, afternoon tea in the Café Bar or even a private tour of the gallery with friends and family.
The very special millionth visitor will receive an exclusive Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle Experience, including behind the scenes tours at all four venues (Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Art Gallery, The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park), a Yorkshire food hamper and an overnight stay in a top Leeds hotel.
Pictures during the week-long celebrations will be posted on the gallery’s new Instagram site: instagram.com/
