North Yorkshire Open Studios 2010, taking place during June, will see artists and makers from across the region inviting visitors into a host of intriguing studio spaces. Encouraging New Participants
Our research has shown that an overwhelming majority of artists want to keep the event selective and maintain quality standards. Selection will therefore continue to be undertaken by a panel. However, we also want to try to
increase the overall number of participants in future years. Artists who have previously taken part can help by passing on the information to anyone they think might be interested. This could particularly help to encourage clusters of artists in areas where visitor numbers need to be increased.
Artists participating for the first time will be offered extra support and information. Volunteers will be sought to offer advice to artists who have not taken part before.
Artists who do NOT have a suitable studio space but who would like to take part may apply and we will endeavour to assist them in identifying a suitable space.
Sharing Spaces
We would like to ask artists who have a studio space suitable for sharing and are willing to consider this option, to contact us.
In order to help facilitate planning, early applications or notification of intent to apply, would be appreciated.
Additional Programme
As in 2009, a programme of workshops, talks, activities for emerging artists and opportunities for artists who do not produce work to sell will be organised. All suggestions are welcome.
NYOS 2010 will take place on the following five days:
Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 June and Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 June. The opening times will be 10.30am to 5.30pm. Preview events outside these times can also be advertised.
