Stocking Fillers: Riot, Rebellion & Bloody Insurrection

RRBandElsie[1]

December can be a funny month for the theatre, and we don’t necessarily mean in a humorous way! But this year bodes well for those who cringe at the very thought of the panto season in the shape of Riot, Rebellion & Bloody Insurrection – A Musical Comedy. This unique mixture of theatre, music, banter and action is an exciting collaboration between Red Ladder Theatre Company and Chumbawamba.

Penned by Dom Grace and Boff Whalley (a founding member of Chumbawamba) , this riotous musical comedy tells the story of a sassy Luddite rebel Elsie Proud as she wages war against the ruthless rags-to-riches boss Ernest Hardgristle and career climbing politician Robert Catchpenny. Set in December 1825, England is the the grip of a harsh winter, its army is fighting colonial battles abroad and hunger and poverty are rife. Thousands are being thrown out of work while the landed, property-owning few are becoming indecently rich> Hmmmm, sound familiar?!

Visit the Red Ladder website for full details of tour dates/venues and to book your tickets.

But for one lucky reader we have a pair of tickets to the show on 14th December at the Irish Centre in Leeds up for grabs. Just head down to the comments and tell us the name of your favourite Chumbawamba track.

Please be sure to read our terms and conditions which you are deemed to have accepted by entering! Winners will be picked at random using random.org so why not give it a go! Closing date: 12th December 2009

NB: The show is not really suitable for under-14s so if you win you will need to leave them at home with a babysitter we’re afraid!

Competition now closed. And the winner is Ruth Sutton….congratulations and please keep an eye out for your confirmation email!
