Yorkshire folk singer Fay Hield brings her virtuoso trio including Bellowhead’s Sam Sweeney to the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge on Wednesday 29 February.
Along with English Acoustic Collective’s Rob Harbron they will present a spicy stew of songs and ballads, catches and caprices, featuring tracks from Fay’s debut solo CD Looking Glass, released on the prestigious Topic Records.
Hield made her name in The Witches of Elswick recording two critically acclaimed albums before she launched a solo career that saw her nominated for the Horizon Award at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk awards.
Fay has also completed a PhD thesis entitled ‘English Folk Singing and the Construction of Community’, and runs two thriving folk clubs with her partner Bellowhead’s Jon Boden.
