Catch-Up Conference

‘Catch-Up Conference’ a playful interpretation of a symposium. An accessible examination of applied arts over the course of two afternoons, each featuring a talk, round-table discussion & exhibition.

Curated by Leeds based designers Jay Cover (of Nous Vous), Tom Pratt & Ollie Shaw (of Catalogue), the events aim to provide a platform to discuss and learn more about illustration, design, art direction & self-publishing. We’ve invited a couple of highly regarded contemporary creative practitioners to Leeds to showcase and talk about their work.

In addition there will be evening entertainment, a daytime wind-down – curated by Catch-Up, Mexico and the daytime speaker. Likely to feature, musical performances by Glaciers, poetry readings & performance by Rob Lowe & spirit lifting prose from Matthew the Horse. With more – whatever it is, it’ll be fun & friendly.

Both events will be situated in contemporary artist run space ‘Mexico’, a charming, clean, open, loft  space based in Leeds city centre. 25 Wharf Chambers, Wharf Street, Leeds, LS2 7EQ.

 • Saturday March 23rd; Rob Lowe (Supermundane)

His experience includes six years as creative director of the highly popular & alternative children’s magazine ‘Anorak’, Art director for London Lifestyle magazine ‘Good For Nothing’ and currently Art directing for award winning food quarterly ‘Fire & Knives’. His experience image-making, designing, self-publishing & illustrating working with the likes of Penguin Books, V&A Museum, Wallpaper, Nokia, Orange & Apple, makes him a super insightful, interesting chap.

 • Saturday April 6th; Alexander Lis

Alexs’ work is routed in Graphic Design, not only producing design work commercially but researching it and investigating it’s place within society as useful creative activity. He curates events, self-publishes objects, journals and commissions artwork from other artists. His forward thinking and innovative approach has seen him in the finals of the German Design Awards and he initiated the highly successful ‘After School Club’ a large scale design festival in Frankfurt.

Access to daytime events inc Talk & Roundtable (CUC goodies) are £5 for each day. Limited to 30 places for each event.

Evening exhibition is open to the general public from 6pm.

  1. “Double Four Time” takes The Swayback’s ability to blend different genres together to a whole new level. When all his friends had gone off to school, he had taken the opportunity to vow himself to solitude, study, and training. To get you started, here are my suggestions on cook off themes, d.
