The Arts Council England announce further cuts reducing their staff across the UK. The new regions will be London, South West, South East, Midlands and the North and major offices will be located in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol, plus some smaller local offices to keep the Arts Council close to the arts and cultural sector. Guardian journalist Charlotte Higgins reveals all here. What does this mean for the future of funding and relationships in Yorkshire and the North East? We’d love an opinion piece do get in contact if you’d like to lead on it. 

Yesterday, the day before the announcement was made about cuts, the Arts Council launched three major funds, one of which may be relevant if you are an arts fundraiser. Let’s face it you’ll need to get creative in this current climate. We had a conversation about our ongoing plans for cultural dating on Twitter t’other night and Bradford tweeters quick as a flash set up the natty tag #BDnoMates to enable sharing of event opportunities, tickets and so forth. We are working out how we link with or continue with our own shenanigans but we love the speed in which they just got on a did it.

Finally we’ve now got 4g in Leeds and Sheffield. Isn’t that amazing? According to my sources this means we can upload and download much quicker. And clone ourselves. Check out EE which used to be known as Everyday Everywhere…(and before that Orange and…)

Welcome to Yorkshire were in Paris to make the case for Yorkshire bringing a bit of Oh La La a little closer to our fine republic in 2014. How close are we to bringing Le Grand Depart stage here? I’ve mixed feelings as I pledged to learn to ride a unicycle if Yorkshire beat off the competition…
