We would be very surprised if you were not already aware of the Ilkley Literature Festival, it’s a pretty impressive event. Running from 2nd -18th October in locations across one of our favourite places for tea and cake! This year they have a poet in residence, at home in pretty much every food emporium in Ilkley it seems. Debjani Chatterjee can be found in delis, cafe, restuarants, and the health centre, encouraging festival goers to share poetry about food & Darwin. Hope it’s not a case of survival of the fittest when it comes to grabbing a seat next to her!
With top notch authors footing the bill, there really is something for all tastes, from local to national – Alan Bennett, Alan Titchmarch, Jo Brand, Patrick Gale, Tracy Chevalier, Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and many more. Some tickets are already sold out so do visit the website to check out what’s on.
We are also pretty excited by the children and young peoples weekend, and particularly glad to see that us adults can join in the fun too!
Sunday 4th October has Roger McGough tickling children of 10+ with his ‘slapstick’ event. Without giving too much away, it promises to be very entertaining!
