How many people know that Armley has a self appointed Lady Mayoress, with her own imaginary pr agent, and a tourist board? Despite the impression that this may give, real stuff happens too, and over the last five years Armley has seen a host of creative cultural events that mix the fun, the social, the quirky with more than a big pinch of eccentricity. This year the popular annual Charming Armley Cake Competition is back only this time it’s bigger and messier, renamed Make, Bake and Grow incorporating new challenges and rewards for scultptors of vegetables, brewers of wine, ale or cordials & makers of aprons/tea cosies
If you feel creative, crafty, competitive, cakey then stick the 4th October in your diary, and await further instructions on how to sharpen your elbows in the race for free cakes and ale!
Charlie Cake Park, Armley Town Street, Armley. 12pm – 4pm.
PS. Any rumours that I am infact the self appointed, self important, Lady Mayoress are scurrilous heresay and I can neither confirm or deny such ludicrous claims
Any further news of this event and how to take part?
