Film Music Conference: 6th November

As part of the Leeds International Film Festival, The University of Leeds School of Music will be hosting the Film Music Conference, providing a showcase of live music accompanying silent film. The evening will also include an interview with film music composer Ilan Eshkeri (Hannibal Rising, Layer Cake, The Young Victoria). A new clubnight for those who appreciate their music more than free shots, at Leeds’ own autonomous, radical social centre The Common Place. On this evening, the tunes will consist of an eclectic mix of music from Kate Bush to Battles to DJ Scotch Egg to Leonard Cohen (you can get a much more detailed idea from the facebook event).
To attend events at The Common Place you must be either a member or a guest of a member, but at only £2 a year, it’s well worth the money. You can sign up for membership on their website.
Forest of Sound – The Declining Winter etc: 28th November

With a fantastic line-up featuring Hood side project The Declining Winter, Songs of Green Pheasant, Lanterns on the Lake and Michael Rossiter, this gig takes place in the atmospheric surroundings of Holy Trinity Church, where the immense size and grandeur of the space transforms every tinkling note into an echoing cacophony.
