PSL meet Pamela

The Producer - Meet Pamela
The Producer - Meet Pamela

Meet Pamela sees four London artists come together in a project that reflects on the possibilities of art production through film, sculpture, installation and photography. The show’s title is a reference to François Truffaut’s1973 film La Nuit Americaine, which explores the techniques and processes of film making itself.

Amy Stephens’ large yet delicately balanced sculptural assemblages consider shifting patterns of meaning and potential for narrative while Bronwen Buckeridge’s uses the spoken word, sound effects and video to explore the processes of production as alternative sites for performance. Laura Buckley creates multi-screen installations using film as a sculptural medium and Laura Morrison’s work acts as a contemporary art confessional, reflecting on the resemblance of art making to the exercise of belief.

Towards Bridgewater Place - Signs of Life

Running alongside is an exhibition from Leeds based artists Jim Brogden and Matthew Shelton. With  Signs of Life, an investigation of hidden corners and aspects of the city through photography, urban debris and drawing, PSL demonstrate their continuing commitment to exploring artists’ responses to urban contexts, with a particular focus on Leeds itself.

Jim Brogden’s investigation of Leeds’ post-industrial urban landscape explores abandoned corners and wastelands whilst Matthew Shelton’s work Herzog provides a different yet complementary exploration into perceptions of waste and detritus.

Both exhibitions run from 20th November 2009 until 27th February 2010. Full details can be found on the Project Space Leeds website here
