We are already on the third outing of the monthly Pannier Market (Sat 26 June) and it’s starting to feel established…Last month the heavens opened, I decided not to risk it, so it was my loss when I discovered via twitter that it was still thronging, as everyone had decamped into the dry spaces surrounding the wharf…so the lesson of that story is that the organisers have a Plan B should the weather turn sour.
They even have a Plan C should the general population be lamenting a lack of world cup football activity! Can you put together a team of two? Fancy your chances on the old foosball table? Why not enter a team and battle it out to win £250 in prize money. Think how many artisanal goodies from Sunshine Bakery that would net you! Or you could go get a suite at City Inn and pretend to be a tourist in your own town…A few people I cannot name for good reason would sink that prize pot quite happily behind the bars of local pubs The Hop, The Grove, The Midnight Bell and Cross Keys…
