The Big Lunch had its big launch in Leeds yesterday when staff from the project set up on Briggate bringing with them a huge print of a 3D pavement artwork drawn by artist Kurt Wenner. The eye catching design is best seen from standing at one corner when all of the picnic items appear to be hovering clear of the rug.
This is the second year for The Big Lunch, set up by the Eden Project to get people to have a bit of fun whilst getting to know their neighbours and developing a bit of good old fashioned community spirit.
Anyone can set up a lunch- this year to be on Sunday 18th July. The organisers say lunches can be as big or small as you wish and can include music & entertainment too. There are plenty of sources of inspiration on the website.
Alternatively you can do a postcode search to see if there is already a lunch organised in your area.
