Thought Bubble

ThoughtBubble

We have already featured an interview with Thought Bubble organiser, Lisa Wood, this month but we think that this fabulous event deserves it’s very own feature!

Thought Bubble is a four day annual event, running from 19th to 22nd November this year, which celebrates sequential art in all its forms and includes everything from superheroes to independent small press.  It is dedicated to promoting comics and graphic novels as an important cultural art form, an aim which we here at The Culture Vulture wholeheartedly support! It is sure to appeal to both long-time comic book fans and those who have never picked up a graphic novel before!

One of the highlights of the event is the special one day convention on 21st November at Savilles Hall, which includes an incredible line up of leading artists and writers, and over 150 tables selling comics and merchandise. The day also features portfolio viewings and competitions, as well as the opportunity to meet some of your favourite comic book creators.

Here at The Culture Vulture we will be indulging in some roving reporting from the convention. One lucky reader can get the chance to hang out with us* as we have a pair of tickets up for grabs, which also includes an invitation to the aftershow party which will be held that evening at the Alea Casino. Hang out with fellow fans and your favourite creators, have a few drinks and maybe even get your sketching pad out and take part in a very special Dr Sketchy event that I have been busy putting together myself!

So if you fancy your chances, head down to the comment box and tell us the name of your favourite comic book character. Good Luck!

Please be sure to read our terms and conditions which you are deemed to have accepted by entering! Winners will be picked by random so why not give it a go! Closing date: 16th November 2009.

If you want to find out more about Thought Bubble visit the website for full programme details.

And the winner is….Luke Mullen. Congratulations! An email is winging its way to you now.

  1. Obelisk. Rotund and always saves the day. Also can’t stop eating, sounds a bit like me. The eating part that is.

  2. Animal Man.

You know I was all prepared to look upon this with scorn and trepidation as I know that nine times out of ten conventions turn into to grubby little money making schemes with a bunch of no marks turning up selling there John Hancock for an obscene amount of money but looking up the site I’m actually trying to figure out if I can get to Leeds on those dates.
