If I wasn’t to be found biting my nails in the hopes that The Culture Vulture writers bagged a few gongs at the Digitally Leeds Awards on Wednesday I would take the train over to Wakefield and enjoy the very rich pickings on offer at the final 2011 Art Walk. What a night!

WESTGATE WINTER WONDERLAND

For the last Wakefield Artwalk of 2011, Westgate Studios has a full programme of art & festive cheer for one night only: Westgate Winter Show in the 1st floor gallery featuring studio holder’s work curated by Alice Bradshaw & Bob Milner, a solo show by Sharon Harrison in the Project Space, open studios with a Winter Wonderland in studio A6, an art vending machine by Nicholas Clarke and of course mulled wine and mince pies. Pop in on your artwalk and sample some Westgate wonders.

THE HEPWORTH WAKEFIELD PRESENTS A NIGHT OF NU FOLK
FRAN SMITH, SAM AIREY AND RYAN SPENDLOVE

The Hepworth Wakefield will come alive with the sounds of Nu Folk for the November Wakefield Artwalk, which takes place on Wednesday 30 November, 5 – 9pm. Home-grown talents Fran Smith, Sam Airey and Ryan Spendlove, Sam Airey will be performing live in the gallery’s café bar from 6.15pm.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Best Joined Up present a unique evening of live illustration, music, cinema and culture accompanied by a conversation with YSP exhibiting artist and 2009 Northern Art Prize nominee- Rachel Goodyear.

Some of the leading lights in U.K Street Art, Illustration and Design will be creating art live throughout the evening, which will be soundtracked by Love of the Brave and DJ’s from the Vinyl Miners collective.

Animations by Rachel, Short films and cellular plunder will be shown throughout the night and an open wall will be made available to attendees to collaborate creatively on.

On top of all this there will be some exclusive limited run print and apparel available from SpinCycleComplete
