I'm a writer, content creator, theatre-maker, performer and a regular talker on the radio and local telly (BBC Radio Leeds and Made in Leeds TV), usually about theatre, but sometimes food, fitness, gardening, the Royal Family, newspaper reviews and more (genuine slots I have done!). I got a chance to be a ‘proper presenter’ on BBC Radio Leeds/Yorkshire a few years ago and loved the interviews I got to do (including an hour’s live one-to-one with the legend that is Mr Matthew Kelly), but a few things happened in those 15 or so live shows that made me realise that a regular live radio presenting career just wasn’t for me… So, now I do some presenting with the fabulous Peg Alexander (who is a talented broadcaster and reporter) and pre-recorded podcast-style interviews with people in the world of arts and culture. My creative writing projects have included short theatre pieces at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Carriageworks, and as part of Leeds Fringe/Leeds Pub Theatre. A few years ago I co-wrote a play (Wrecked) with Urban Sprawl, which was performed at Seven Arts, and also co-wrote a saucy Mills & Boon-inspired novella set in Leeds, called Broken Shackles, for Morley Literature Festival. Plans for more sauciness are afoot and I’m also currently working on a theatre piece for Love Arts Leeds, as part of Leeds Fringe, and a site-specific piece. For non-luvvies, ‘site-specific’ means the subject matter is linked to the location and vice versa ;) Outside of work I have a keen interest in natural health and beauty, complementary therapies, organic living, fitness and self-care. I like having my fingers in lots of pies. Pies are good.
