Young volunteers needed for recreation of masterpiece

GamesInThePark_bannerI went along to the National Media Museum last week to hear about the Games in the Park project, led by Bradford Council and curated by Alchemy, Games in the Park events are happening in cities right across Yorkshire including Beverley, Hull, Bradford, Leeds and York.

Each city is creating their own events but the one I want to tell you about is an event happening in Centenary Square in Bradford on Saturday 16th June where the organisers will be attempting to recreate a famous masterpiece. Bruegel’s ‘Children’s Games’ dates from 1560 and depicts more than 200 children playing 80 different games.

The resulting photo will be on display at Cartwright Hall has part of their Games in the Park Exhibition from 28th July – 2nd December 2012.

So if you’d like to get involved Alchemy are looking for children to volunteer to come and play games and be photographed. Once the photography is over there’s lots of activities planned, skipping demonstrations, games and contemporary dance to enjoy all afternoon.

Young people aged from five to 15 are needed to take part in the tableau, which will take place on Saturday, 16 June; you need to arrive for 10.30 a.m. The photography will start at 11a.m. All children must be accompanied by a parent or authorised adult. There’s more information along with a full timetable of the day http://www.bradford.gov.uk/gamesinthepark.

It sounds like fun and we’re going along so maybe see you there!
