Grief Series Part 3 – What is Left?

michael

@griefseries previews What is Left? is a participatory portraiture project being made by Ellie Harrison, photographer Roshana Rubin Mayhew and 50 members of the public.

Working with individuals, community groups and bereavement charities, Ellie and Roshana will generate 50 portraits with corresponding texts in collaboration with participants.

Photographed in their own homes with objects they have inherited from lost loved ones, the project will explore the value we invest in these, both monetary and emotional, and the ways in which these objects mediate our relationships with the dead through memory.

Ellie and Roshana have been working with participants since April and have now created eleven portraits and texts ready to be shared with an invited group of arts professionals, clinicians, bereavement charities and interest groups.

PREVIEW EVENT: 4th July 2012, 7pm, Leeds Gallery, Munro House, LS9 8AG.

At this special preview event, individuals, community groups and bereavement experts are all invited to come and see the first 10 portraits, texts and audio recordings in the form of a ‘one night only’ installation event presented in association with the fantastic Leeds Gallery.

Ellie and Roshana will be providing an ‘at seat’ tea service throughout this informal event whilst the lovely team at Cafe 164 will be providing a range of wines, beers and non-alcoholic tipples.

All are welcome at the event, either just to pop by and see a little of the work, or to stick around and chat with Ellie and Roshana to find out more about What is Left? and The Grief Series.
