Jungle Book at the West Yorkshire Playhouse reviewed By Ella, age 11 …

My uncle Philip got tickets for us to go see Jungle book at the West Yorkshire Playhouse on Friday.

Last year we saw Wind in the Willows and the year before that the Secret Garden. Both of these were excellent so I was expecting great things. It was a great play to get out and see. However, I would agree that any children under 7 should not attend because of the loud bangs and a few scary, yet exhilarating, scenes of Shere khan (the tiger) searching for Mowgli.

My favourite characters were Buldeo because he was funny – I loved his 1980s costume – and I liked Messua, Mowgli’s mum, and her Yorkshire accent. The set and costumes were impressive, especially Kaa’s suit and tie instead of mask and fur.

I would recommend a night at the theatre for any kids too old for pantomimes or any adults wanting a great night out.
