A Reet Good NOSH Up

Clare Tollick (@FeastandGlory) previews the NOSH Night Market – an evening of brilliant food, great drinks and some amazing entertainment – returning for its third helping in Sheffield next Thursday …

With two successful events under their (currently on the last notch) belts, NOSH night market is set to return on Thursday 30th May. Setting up stall at The Old Junior School in Sharrow, NOSH is bringing street food out of the city centre and towards the south side of town. Running from 5-10pm and with an entrance fee of just £2 (with all profits going to the Sharrow Lantern Carnival and Sharrow Festival) I can assure you that the evening will make for a real treat.

The hungry NOSHers amongst you may want to reminisce of your school days and eat in the old school canteen, but you’ll struggle as it’s being transformed into the Three Bears Kitchen‘s newly launched Bear Pit Burger Bar. Here you’ll find proper filthy, but tasty, burgers. Moving out into the playground and you’ll find new boys Soi Truck dishing up some classic Thai street dishes including the popular Pad Thai. With Diamond Dogs offering gourmet hot dogs and Chinampas pouring out their Mexican soft drinks it’ll be difficult for you to choose best in class, especially as there’ll be Mexican street food from the Sheffield institution that is Street Food Chef and tempting coffee cocktails from Tamper too!

Prefects, and the guys behind NOSH, Andrew Critchett of Northern Streats and Fish& and Ben Smith of The Hop Box, will be overseeing proceedings whilst serving up a few good ol’ British traditions in the form of fish and chips (with a twist) and a decent pint of well sourced craft beer.

With all this on offer I strongly recommend that you arrive hungry – ravenous if at all possible – as NOSH does exactly what it says on the tin. And, personally, with such a superb line up of Yorkshire based street food I think I’ll be skipping lunch so that I can work my way around as many stalls as possible.

Of course, it isn’t all about the food (no, really, it isn’t) and the more energetic amongst you might be glad of the opportunity to burn some calories off with a bit of a boogie to some of the live music that will be performed on the night, or even by joining in with one of the free Zumba classes. With craft stalls and a charity auction, there really is something for everyone and I’m looking forward to seeing this old school buzzing with life.
