August Round Up – Art

tempartspaceAs well as still having time to have check out some of the exhibitions we have already posted about, including PSL presents Town and Country (featuring an artist in residence on a bus!) and Aqua-scape: The Nature-oriented Architecture of Ryumei Fujiki at Beam here are a few other exhibitions to tickle your fancy in Augst.

Unstrung Theory: 25th July – 6th September
HIVE Gallery, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Barnsley

A kinetic installation which develops and grows throughout the course of the show. Blackpool based artist Adrian Pritchard poses the question – just what is the universe made of? Discover his answers at the HIVE Gallery this August.

Sun, Sea, Sand and Sculpture: 18th July – 6th September
Gallery 49, 1Market Place, Old Town, Bridlington

An exhibition celebrating the seaside featuring work from established and emerging artists at this charming gallery in Bridlington. Visit their website for more information.

Journey: An exhibition of Graphic Art by Paul Airy: 15th July – 28th August
The Art House, Drury Lane, Wakefield

First solo exhibition for artist Paul Airy, who launched his artistic career last year after fifteen years as a graphic designer. Paul won first prize for his piece Wave at the 2008 Saltaire Arts Trail Open Exhibition

So this it is, the end of Temporary Art Space! The finale, the show to end all shows. They intend to fill every single surface with art! How many artists can they exhibit in one fifty-three foot room? With wall to wall creativity this is surely the biggest independent gallery show this summer. Beaver Away: 3rd – 27th August

A showcase of recent works by emerging and established Leeds based artists who reside at the East Street Arts Beaver Studio. The exhibition includes painting, prints, jewellery, woodcuts, ceramics and mixed media works which can be purchased after the exhibition

Emergence: 10th August – 5th September

This summer Barnsley is hosting the first installment of an exciting new exhibition programme dedicated to promoting emerging artists. Emergence will see exhibitions held across the town centre in both traditional gallery space and retails units.

Fancy being a part of Emergence? 100 volunteers are sought to take part in a performance piece Laugh and the whole world laughs with you’ with artists Stacey Allen and Katherine Johnson. More information is available here.
