Don’t give up the day job – Lucy Wurstlin – 4IP

loopicWe have finally pinned Lucy down to talk to us about what the devil she does as Digital Commissioning Manager for 4IP.

Who are you?
My name is Lucy Würstlin although, owing to my rather unusual surname, I’ve been called many, many things. Lucy Worst-Lion and Lucy Wurzletin are two of my personal faves.

What do you do?
I work for Channel 4 as the Digital Commissioning Manager for 4iP in the Yorkshire and Humber region. 4iP is an innovation fund to stimulate public service digital media across the UK. In English, that means supporting great ideas for websites, games and mobile services which help people improve their lives.

Why do you love what you do?
Well, I’m able to live and work in Yorkshire and I get to work with the best creative and digital talent in the region, and a brilliant team at Channel 4.

4iP has a substantial commissioning budget of up to £50m over the next three years to support the best ideas and companies in the UK and is reinventing what public service media is and how it can be enabled, supported and delivered at a really pivotal point in media history so that’s incredibly exciting.

What’s not to love about all that!

I can’t tell you how great it feels to be part of a good news story right now and be able to support the creative and digital sector in the region make the most of a this opportunity.

Anything you’d like to plug
I’d love the plug the dedicated 4iP site where you can find out more information and apply on-line – www.4iP.org.uk

I’d also highly recommend that you join me and the Vulture Goddess on the very fabulous regional networking site for creative and digital talent in the region and friends elsewhere – www.whippetonthewire.ning.com
