Feeling tense? Need some lunchtime loosening?

milliesYou may already be aware  of Millies Fresh and Organic in Leeds, a delicious family owned and run deli and health food emporium based on Vicar Lane (next to the Sony shop) selling locally sourced meats, breads, vegetables and so much more, much of which is organic. On the day I popped in, I went with the intention of nabbing a brownie for free but ended up coming home with a pork pie, apple crumble, bread, and an organic baby grow (all of which I paid for!)

Along with buying ethically you can also take the load off and let their beauty therapist soothe your woes with a range of treatments. Whilst I probably need it more than you, I’m prepared to forgo the hour long Swedish full body massage on offer and give it to a reader who nominates a friend/partner/colleague/family member.

All you need do is leave a comment in the box below telling us who most deserves the massage and why, leaving your twitter username (so we can contact you) and then tweet us on www.twitter.com/culturevultures quoting #milliesleedsmassage.  We will choose the most worthy (or funny) recipient on the Thursday 27th August 6pm and inform you within 24 hours.

*Treatment must be booked in advance. Valid 7th – 18th September, Tuesday – Friday only. Valid for one hour Swedish Full Body Massage only – cannot be exchanged for any other treatment(s). Manager has the right to refuse custom and remove this offer.

  1. I reckon my husband ought to get it. I’m working in France, 900 miles away from Leeds, and he’s lumbered with doing all of the housework and gardening for a year. All that digging, weeding, cleaning, lifting… and nobody there to rub his back at the end of it.

  2. I will nominate my darling other half, who’s seven months into carrying our second offspring, while trying to keep our irrepressible 19-month-old in check. She hasn’t had a drink since Christmas, and can’t really have another until she’s finished breast feeding no.2. Agony!

On top of all of that, she still has to put up with me shouting at the television and complaining (usually swearily) that the world is covered in Comic Sans, and how if I ruled the world things would be more typographically sound.

She is more than deserving of an hour’s free respite from the drudgery and madness 2009 is dealing her. Although it’s probably best the masseuse stays away from her belly – we wouldn’t want to spark an early labour 🙂

  3. I would like to nominate my girlfriend. We have been together for 19months and she deserves a nice treat for putting up with me and my mood swings.

Only a true angel would do that and its about time that she is rewarded with a nice treat, she also does so many things for her friends and family that go unnoticed and that is another quality the girl has.

If I could I would give her everything she wants.

She works 6 days a week and hardly ever gets any time to herself and that’s why I think she deserves this hour to herself.

  4. I would like to nominate my fantastic husband. We have been married 35 years and he’s still the best thing since sliced bread. He works very hard as a theatre nurse, on his feet all day, helping to put people back together. Even volunteering to do extra hours and days when necessary. Then he takes care of me when I am not at my best and runs around after his three, mad as cheese children, even though they are all grown up. It’s his birthday on the 28th and he’s often heard saying ” What I need is a nice massage, get rid of my aches and pains ” He really deserves an hour all to himself.

  5. I would like to nominate my colleague Jane Verity, who works with me in the Communications team at West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Not only is it her birthday on Tues 1st Sept, but she has decided to stay on at WYP despite being offered a prestigious MA place at Manchester Uni. She has shown brilliant dedication to her work and is always bright and lively despite the meanies she deals with almost daily. She is also a bloomin fantastic friend to me, a real support through everything.

(Also, she has just started doing British Military Fitness training, and while I think she might be a little bit insane for doing this, she will be all knobbly and gnarly from her hardcore training sessions and she deserves a massage.)

    Pick Jane!

xxxx @TeeGee87, just off to give you a tweet…
