Film Festival Fun in the capital

LFF

Film Festivals always seem such glamourous and fun events, what with the potential of bumping into your favourite actor, writer or director and the opportunity to see ‘THE’ film of the year before the masses.  So if you harbour secret fantasies of jetting off to Cannes, Toronto or Sundance and rubbing shoulders with the stars, but fear the wrath of the bank manager, then why not head down to London this October for The Times BFI London Film Festival?

Now in it’s 53rd year the Festival offers a total of 191 features and 113 short screenings from 46 countries around the world, including, take a deep breath, 15 World Premieres, 23 European Premieres, 4 International Premieres and 146 UK Premieres. And, lest we forget, 3 films featuring George Clooney!

Opening Night, on 14th October, boasts the world premiere of Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr Fox, which will be presented by the director and cast members including Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Helen McCrory.  The Festival reaches its final climax on 29th October with Nowhere Boy, the highly anticipated feature debut from Sam Taylor-Wood which looks at the formative years of John Lennon. In between there are just far too many amazing things to mention here so we recommend that you check out the full programme available online here.

Tickets are available to the general public from Saturday 26th September, or you could always become a BFI member to enjoy priority online booking from 23d September, along with a whole host of other amazing benefits for all those film lovers out there.
