Final year degree show LeedsMetAAD

Dinner service . . . fondue set . . . cuddly toy, cuddly toy!

I got a sneak preview of the final year degree show at Leeds Metropolitan University School of Art Architecture and Design the other evening.

Remember the conveyor belt on the Generation Game? Dozens of desirable, valuable, remarkable objects were paraded in front of your eyes for a minute, then you had to try naming as many as you could. The experience was a bit like that. Except that we had an hour to look at the work of more than five hundred students that filled six floors of the new Broadcasting Place (Rusty Towers to you and me.) And we were plied with a serious amount of alcohol beforehand . . . what would you remember?

All I can say is that there’s some wonderful stuff that’s well worth seeing. I’m definitely going back tonight to have a proper look at a more leisurely pace.

It’s open from 6 till 8:30 this evening, and the show is on until June 15. Get yourselves down there . . . just don’t ask what they did to the cuddly toy!
