How would you explain ‘culture’ to a 4 year old?

Yesterday I had a hankering for Chili Battered Calamari from Fish & at the Leeds Loves Food Festival, I had to persuade my reluctant husband and brood that we needed to leave the house and enjoy a bit of Leeds cultural offer. My husband scoffed at my notion of culture, accusing me of using Culture to justify filling my face! My little girl piped up ‘What’s Culture, mummy?’ To which I stumbled. I run a website, go to loads of cultural events, put on creative, sociable stuff, publish a magazine and run Playful Leeds, yet I could not find a simple answer that would satisfy her understanding of the world. Not without running the risk of 20 more explanations… So as usual I turned to Twitter. Here are your answers. Feel free to comment below, as to how you would describe what culture is to a 4 year old.
