£500 commission for new performance work

Idea

IDEA is an open call competition for contemporary performance makers in need of support to realise their next project!

We are on the hunt for a new work that sits outside of the conventional theatre/gallery space. If you’re the kind of person that is willing to take risks, provoke change and challenge audiences then this is the place for you! Keeping in the spirit of Live Art, we are looking for performances that are difficult to label but impossible to ignore. We will accept all art forms & disciplines, as long as the idea is original and defies expectation.

IDEA ASSEMBLY

If chosen, applicants will be required to prepare a 10-15 minute presentation/performance to be showcased on Saturday 25 August at LAB Leeds. IDEA ASSEMBLY will invite a panel of judges from different disciplines to make the call on who receives the commission. There will also be a wild card vote cast by the audience. The winning applicant will be announced the same evening and will immediately receive the commission of:

  • £500 to make the work (including all expenses)
  • 2 weeks residency at LAB (3rd-15th September)
  • Free technical support
  • Free accommodation

The final performance will be shown on the 15th September exactly three weeks after the IDEA ASSEMBLY.

In order to be considered for IDEA Assembly & subsequent commission you will need to complete and return this application form by 10th August 2012, along with any supporting documentation, images, or video links of previous performance works (please limit attachments to 10MB max.).  The application form and supporting materials should be submitted to the following email address: liveartbistro@gmail.com

We will announce those who have been accepted on Monday 13th August.

If your IDEA is in early stages of development please do not be put off . We will definitely consider raw and brewing IDEAS. We are artists ourselves and understand how much of a ball ache these forms can be so just go wild and write it from the heart! NEWNESS is encouraged!
