Culture Vulture bloggers Harry, Darcie and Carys went to see Potted Potter at the Carriageworks in Leeds. Heres what they thought of it
What was the show about?
Harry: Basically the show was all seven Harry Potter books in 70 minutes. The show had 2 actors called Dan & Jeff in it who used to be on CBBC and they told the story of all seven Harry Potter books.
What did the set look like, did they have any props?
Darcie: They had a little train which was meant to be the Hogwarts Express, the rest of the set was all wrong because Dan had spent all the money on a Dragon and Jeff was very cross with him about this. They also had puppets.
Did the audience get to join in?
Harry: Yes, the whole audience got to play a game of Quiditch using an inflatable globe and some hoops. The audience were split into two teams we were in Gryfindor . This was very funny and at the end we all got wet with a water soaker which Dan had.
Was the Show funny or serious?
Darcie: The show was so funny I nearly fell of my chair, even my Mom & Dad were laughing.
How did they manage to get all the books into 70 minutes?
Harry: They skipped lots and got to the battles and missed lots out on
Purpose which was funny, the show was also very fast, which I liked
There are over three hundreds characters in Harry Potter, how did just two people make a show?
Darcie: One person Jeff, played Harry Potter and then Dan had to be all the other characters, he wore lots of different wigs and hats and he used funny voices for each different character.
What was your favourite bit?
Harry: probably when the seakers (who were 2 audience members) had to chase and catch the golden Snitch. The Golden Snitch was actually Jeff dressed up in a big golden dress, this was so so funny.
Darcie: Near the end they made Dobbie (a Puppet) sing My Way which was very funny.
Carys: When the dragon died !
Would you recommend this show to your friends ?
Darcie : Yes, because it was really funny and it had music in it the set was good and its was a really fun afternoon.
Harry: Definitely, because it is absolutely histerical (sic)
