Pavilion will be heading to London Art Fair 2010 in January and they are kindly extending an offer to join them to you, our lovely readers! London Art Fair was established in 1988 and launches the art world year in the UK. The event runs from 13th to 17th January, opening times are available on the London Art Fair website here.

Pavilion will be representing work by visual artist Jo Longhurst at Art Projects, the fair’s dedicated space for contemporary art featuring emerging artists and new works. Longhurst ‘s critically acclaimed series, ‘The Refusal’, centres around her interest in perfection and focuses on the British show whippet, a dog bred to an ideal standard. For several years she worked with top breeders, photographing their dogs by bloodline, exploring their quest for the ‘perfect’ dog.

We have a pair of VIP tickets up for grabs for one lucky winner. These exclusive tickets include unlimited access to the fair including the VIP fair preview event. Other benefits include a complimentary copy of the fair guide, exclusive use of the Collector Line, prioirty booking for the fair’s art tours, 10% discount at the Saatchi Gallery bookshop, complimentary access to Ten Lifestyle’s management and concierge service, a complimentary glass of champagne with any meal at Frederick’s restaurant, a comp bottle of champagne if staying at Claridges, 2-for1 tickets to the Tate Modern show.

And there’s more! We also have a pair of tickets for the Fair preview evening, from 6 – 9pm on 12th January on offer. This is your chance to get a sneaky peek at all the work being exhibited before the crowds! What’s more these tickets normally cost £30 each!

But that’s not even it! As a consolation to those who don’t win the VIP or preview tickets, everyone who enters will receive a complimentary ticket for the Fair which can be used for one day or evening at the Fair (excluding the preview night).

So if you want to be in with a chance of winning please head down to the comment box and tell us which family of dogs the whippet belongs to.

Please be sure to read our terms and conditions which you are deemed to have accepted by entering! Winners will be picked at random using random.org so why not give it a go! Closing date: 5th January 2010.

  1. I was gonna be facetious and say my uncle’s family, but they are hounds. A mix of English and Italian greyhound with a bit of terrier in there to be precise. And of course they are a Yorkshire mascot.

  2. Whippets generally belong to Yorkshire families! Especially where said families have flat caps, pies and racing pidgeons perhaps. But I joke… partly!

Because essentially Whippets originated up here in the north of England! Known as the poor mans racehorse, they are smaller versions of greyhounds, and ones that are better indoors. (greyhounds are like dalmatians, awful house pets, needing to run around with lots of energy – whippets are more chilled out). Apart from Northern families, a whippet also belongs to the sighthound family of dogs, which is nice.

  3. My whippet “Whip It” (a member of the hound family) is an essential component (along with my hip flask and good quality rubber boots) to my Sunday morning walk.

    Hounds. Hound.

  4. Has s/he appeared on ‘Who do you think YOU are?”? It might be Adam’s Family … failing that … Sighthounds, or … what’s that in Latin?
