A new visual arts project at Bramley Lawn social centre hopes to turn a blank canvas into a reminiscence space for people with dementia.
Bramley Lawn is based in Bramley and managed by Bramley Elderly Action, a neighbourhood network that supports people in Bramley, Stanningley and parts of Swinnow. Bramley Lawn aims to be innovative and friendly.
We are looking for a visual artist/illustrator to lead a project to create wall murals or themed artwork on the walls of a small sunny room & a portion of the hallway at Bramley Lawn, based on reminiscences shared by older people in the area. We are keen for people aged 60 or over to inform the artwork, and to be involved in painting it.
The artwork you produce should be designed with the needs of people with dementia in mind and we will support you in gathering advice on this.
The deadline for applications is Mon 9 February 9.30am. There is an inclusive fee of £700, and a separate materials budget for the project. Please note, due to funding restrictions some of this work needs to be carried out in February 2015.
All the details on the project, and how to apply are here – Artist Brief If you have any queries please get in touch with Fran Graham or tweet @bramleylawn.
This project has been supported with funding from Community First – Bramley & Stanningley.
