Shall I compare thee to a lamb biryani?
Thou art more lovely… and reyt spicy.
Bradford’s World Curry Festival gives us even more to chew on this year as it teams up with Ilkley Literature Festival to produce the first Poetry in the City spectacular (20-22 June).
If you like your literature as spicy as your food, Bradford’s the place to come. A host of famous names will serenade your sensibilities, rouse your muse, and impassion your poetic desires. From household names, like Simon Armitage, Kate Fox and Roger McGough, to Bradford’s own bards, Nick Toczek and Joolz Denby, and the next generation of wordsmiths, including We Are Poets’ Saju Ahmed and Rheima Ibrahiim, there’s something for everyone.
Families and children are catered for, too. Want to digest some edible poetry or stick to magnetic poems? Poems in the Yurt is for you. Or try the Poetry Treasure Hunt around the city centre.
Fancy yourself as a future laureate? You can hone your skills with a master class or taster session.
Poetry in the City is a wonderful chance to hear poets you’re familiar with and find some new words and wordsmiths to love. The menu is eclectic, experimental and truly exciting, and with Ilkley Literature Festival as your sommelier and World Curry Festival as your chef, you really can’t go wrong.
Bon appetit, Bradford!
Poetry in the City and World Curry Festival run side by side in Bradford from 20th to 22nd June 2014. Follow the links for further details on both events.
