A Show Of Prints & Paintings

NORTHERN MONK BREW Co. & The Grub & Grog Shop present…

Sickboy 1

A show of prints and paintings in The Old Flax Store, including work by;
45rpm // Dreph // Pant One // Goodchild // Hack // Luvatak // Mers // Panik (ATG) // Sickboy // T.J.Dolan (Krek) // & more…

This is the first exhibition of its kind in Leeds, a collection of works from some of Britain’s most progressive street artists. The venture between two new businesses and globally renowned artists represents all that is great about the city of Leeds – regeneration, collaboration, entrepreneurialism, and breakthrough creativity – in a brand new exhibition space.

Pantone 1

Taking street art from its beginnings on derelict buildings and disused machinery, the artists in this showcase have developed their skills on the streets and in the studio for over a decade to take on other worlds of art. They have all become respected figures on the European and in some cases international graffiti scene. Situated in the newly developed Marshalls Mill the established works will sit perfectly in a suitably industrial site.

The show includes two Leeds artists – Luvatak, who works across the board in paint, print, photography and type, and Hack one of the most prolific graffiti artists to ever work in Leeds, these days focusing on refined arts of tattoo work and ink work.

Krek TJ Dolan 1

TJ Dolan continues to explore concepts and politics having developed his work into exhibitable pieces. He is Manchester’s most exciting emerging artists creating large (building sized!) cryptic murals and bold oil paintings across the country.  Also working in Manchester, Mers creates large, fluorescent psychoactive masterpieces as well as mind-blowing oil canvases and sketches.

Retaining their hand drawn beauty, the likes of 45rpm, ATG and Luvatak branched into the commercial industry of graphic design, working with brands, screen printing and creating merchandise. 45RPM is a truly multi disciplinary machine residing in Bristol constantly painting, designing and taking photos, also now well known for his mural work. Sickboy, known for his Psychedelic dream-worlds, develops films and his unique style of superhero work.

Luvatak 2

Also from the south of the country, Panik has been one of the capital’s most prolific street painters throughout the last ten years, relentlessly painting into the current day. Also embracing the ever-popular art of tattooing, Goodchild (Cortisol Kid) has transferred his work to skin, still drenching the city of London with his warped imagery of city life. The longest serving street artist here though is Dreph, a Londoner who has been a stalwart of the UK scene spanning across a huge 3 decades of work, now well known for his large scale paintings.

Pantone 2

Producing groundbreaking, freehand geometric wizardry and large scale graphic paintings, Pantone has gone much deeper into his art – investigating the interpretation of art in public spaces, shapes and structures as sculpture and documenting it as a bridge between art and science he has developed an intrigue in something that is seen by many as a pointless artform. Discussing this artform further is Dreph (Neequaye), with a catalogue of work found across the globe he is an established designer who has taught at secondary school level for over 20 years with youth justice and social housing groups.

Dreph 1

Within the realms of the graffiti/street art movement this is the most dynamic collection of artists to exhibit together in the north of England. On show will also be a collection of photographs from the Artists personal collections.

The artists are clubbing together to produce a limited run of t-shirts, in aid of the Leeds charity MAP. Two designs will be chosen to go on the tees with profits heading straight for the group to support their education project with young people.
