Get Stuffed

stoat

Well hello there! I’ve been languishing with some of my pals in the storerooms of Artemis for some time now so I was delighted to have been chosen to spend a week with a family in West Leeds. Getting out has meant that I have been able to sample the delights of Pudsey as well as run and skip onto the information superhighway that is the World Wide Web with my own weblog and Facebook page.

A few of the more technologically minded of my friends have also ventured into social networking. You can find Harry the Hedgehog, Leodis the Owl, Keith the Tit, the chameleon and my dear friend Heathcliff Pangolin all tweeting on Twitter using #getstuffed12. I thought you may like to know a bit about what they all got up to.

Heathcliff Pangolin, the old rogue, has been up to quite a lot, although I give full marks to him for getting in the Jubilee spirit with his bunting. Also getting into what’s happening out in the world of humans to my surprise was Leodis the Owl, enjoying a bit of Euro 2012 football. A couple of us have sampled that most famous of West Leeds cuisines – curry. One did better than the other. Chameleon is something of a connoisseur and was extremely keen to speak to the chef at the restaurant Jaipur in Armley. Harry the Hedgehog, on the other hand spent the week living it large, drinking beer and then going out for a vindaloo which he fairly instantly regretted (I’m sure you’re not supposed to give hedgehogs curry).

Keith the tit is being cared for by a most cultural family – getting the opportunity to attend an Opera North rehearsal. I supposed he does have a good pair of lungs on him.

I, on the other hand, was subjected to not such a cultural experience. It seems that Pudsey is full of young ones. I’ve been taken to the park. I had hoped to run around but there were just too many of the little blighters there for me to trip over. I liked the skate park somewhat but if those boys think they’re fast then they should have seen me in my heyday before I retired! However, there is a part of Pudsey Park which I can only describe as Stoat heaven. All I need to tell you really is that it involves some rather plump rabbits.

This has been quite an experience and not just for us animals but for the families too. Lots of people in West Leeds have been intrigued to meet us. I met some charming old people at Pudsey bus station the other day. There were some of us who didn’t say anything online but who also have interesting stories to share. To find out what happened to all 10 of us you can visit the Millspace Gallery at Armley Mills from 7-14th July 2012 (closed Mondays) for a special exhibition
