Marvellous Manipuri: WIN tickets to a rare dance-theatre and film event

manipuri

Do you fancy doing something a little bit different with your Friday night? Do you love dance and film? Then don’t miss out on this rare opportunity!

For one evening only, you can experience the modest beauty of Manipuri dance, which is rarely seen in the UK. And if this isn’t tempting enough, the evening also includes a screening of Nrityakala The Rhythm’s A Touch of Tagore, celebrating the work of Rabindranath Tagore and his huge influence on South Asian culture.

So give your Friday night a more cultural feel through this artistic mix of dance-theatre and film led by renowned dancer and choreographer, Bithika Raha Basu. Don’t miss out on what is sure to be a stunning showcase of classical Indian dance at Kala Sangam, St Peter’s House in Bradford.

WIN FREE TICKETS TO THIS EVENT

Kala Sangam is giving away a free pair of tickets to the show with a free drink each. To be in with a chance of winning, simply answer the question below:

Which town/region of India does the Manipuri style of dance originate from? (Hint – answer can be found on the Kala Sangam website at www.kalasangam.org)

The closing date for entries is: 9pm, Monday 5th December. The winner will be selected at random from all entries, and will be notified by 5pm on Tues 6th.

Meet the Blogger:

This preview and competition is brought to you by Rachel Elderkin, who will be attending and reviewing the event for The Culture Vulture on 9th December. Rachel is currently in her final year studying English Literature and Greek Civilisation at the University of Leeds. She spends much of her spare time dancing, and worked as a dancer for a couple of years before going to university.

Rachel says: “Its great to keep involved with this while I’m studying, so volunteering for Kala Sangam and The Culture Vulture is the perfect opportunity to learn about an aspect of dance that is new to me, plus a chance to write about the arts and culture I’ve always been interested in.”
